Everything in Funf follows from that one rule.
Here is the whole mechanic, and why it is the way it is.
Five is a handful. It is how many things you can hold in your head at once, and how many you can finish before the day is over. Anything beyond that is a list.
The other apps let you write down everything. Funf lets you write down five.
A list that ends. Five slots a day, not a setting. If the day is full, something has to give. That friction is the whole product.
No backlog. What you did not do slips away quietly at midnight. If it matters, you write it again. Usually you don’t.
No guilt. No streaks, no points, no red badge. Just a year you can look back on with a little pride.
Funf is the to-do app for grown-ups.

Every day has five slots, and there is no extending it. The limit is enforced strictly, so cheating is impossible. When all five are checked off, you have done quite a lot. Five times 365 = …!
Tasks live in a window of eleven days. Beyond the last day there is nothing, and that is fine. Yesterday is yours too: if you forgot to check something off yesterday, you do it today without making a new task. A short window means less stale planning and more actually getting things done.
What you did not get to last week is out of sight today. Not deleted, just out of the active field of view. If you still want to do it, you write it again. That small friction forces the question “do I actually need to do this?”, and the answer is surprisingly often no.
Try to put a sixth thing on a full day and the app says no, nicely: move it to another day, or swap it with one of the five already there. That is the whole product in a single dialog.

Nothing is deleted. Every day becomes a square in the year, greener the more of the plan you did. No badges, no points, no streak to break. Streaks get tacky over time and stressful the moment they snap. We would rather you looked back on the year with a little pride.
Someone asks for one more field, one more feature. And the answer is almost always no. We keep it simple for you, so you are spared the stress.
No. Come on! Five is the whole point of the app.
They slip out of sight after five days, but stay in your history. If it still matters, you write it again.
No. Funf is an app for what matters now, not for what you have to remember before Christmas.
Funf is free right now. If we build more useful features in the future we may charge a small price for Funf, but we will tell you first.
No, but the web app works in every browser, and the calendar feed works everywhere.
No. Funf is yours alone.
Your email, your tasks and your settings. No analytics, no tracking, no ads. It is all on the privacy page.
Yes, in the app, whenever you like. Everything is deleted for good.
It takes a minute to get started.
Write down the first thing today.
